Crime Report: An armed robbery and $500 of stolen seafood

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from Oct. 12 to Oct. 18

 Oct. 14 Retail theft on 8500 block of Germantown Ave. A woman concealed approximately $90 worth of store merchandise in a large handbag and left  without paying for it. The store has video footage of the woman.

Oct. 15 Armed robbery on 7800 block of Stenton Avenue. A woman told police she returned home to find an armed man in her driveway. The man tied her up in her home and took $4,750 of cash the woman had kept in various places in her home.

Oct.  15 Theft on 7700 block of Stenton Avenue. A woman said a package containing a $138 sewing machine was delivered to her apartment building’s package room but was taken by someone else.

Oct. 15 Theft from vehicle on unit block of W.Bells Mill Road. Woman told police she parked her car in a parking lot and locked it at approximately 4:30 p.m. When she returned just before 6 p.m. she found her passenger-side window had been smashed and a card holder taken from her center console. The card holder contained ID, a SEPTA card, debit and credit cards and $30 in cash.

Oct. 17 Theft from vehicle on the 500 block of W. Willow Grove Ave. A woman said someone broke into her car and took her purse which contained ID, wallet, sunglasses and various other items worth approximately $12.

Oct. 17 Retail theft from 7700 block of Crittenden Street. Witnesses told police that a man left store with $500 worth of seafood, loaded it in a silver Honda CRV and drove away.
