By popular demand, Quintessence Theatre Group has added five more performances of Martin Crimp’s diabolically hilarious and heartbreaking adaptation of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” starring Philadelphia’s J Hernandez in the titular role. 

Crimp’s update of the blockbuster play explores themes of love, beauty and self-worth, incorporating spoken word, slam poetry and rap.

By popular demand, Quintessence Theatre Group has added five more performances of Martin Crimp’s diabolically hilarious and heartbreaking adaptation of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” starring Philadelphia’s J Hernandez in the titular role. 

Crimp’s update of the blockbuster play explores themes of love, beauty and self-worth, incorporating spoken word, slam poetry and rap. 

The British playwright bridges “the history of 1640s France with the panache and swashbuckling of Rostand’s 1890s melodrama” and spices it up with cutting contemporary poetry and wit, said Quintessence producing Artistic Director Alexander Burns.
