Fall for the Arts draws thousands, until the rain

Posted

Chestnut Hill’s annual Fall for the Arts festival drew a crowd of thousands who strolled the Avenue on Sunday until a mid-afternoon downpour sent attendees running for cover and vendors scurrying to protect their artwork, clothing, jewelry and other items displayed in booths along the route from Willow Grove to Rex Avenues. Shortly after the rain started, vendors began packing up.

But before then, the crowd enjoyed perfect weather to shop, dine, sip and explore during the Chestnut Hill Business Association’s annual event. More than 150 vendors and artists participated, displaying paintings, sculpture, pottery, along with other arts and crafts. Booth hosts encouraged passersby to register to vote, adopt sustainable habits, and sit for a palm reading. Children at the Jenks School Fun Fest schoolyard enjoyed face painting and games, while others dined on international cuisine, sipped a cocktail or purchased that perfect gift for the holidays.
