Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) invites the public to its 2024 Annual Public Projects Meeting. This key event, scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 31, at SCH Academy's Doran Hall (8000 Cherokee St.), will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all interested parties free of charge.
During the meeting, Executive Director Ruffian Tittmann will present a review of the past year's improvements in Wissahickon Valley Park and outline the status of ongoing and future initiatives. Key projects include the Valley Green Run Restoration and the eagerly anticipated Pedestrian Bridge Project, set to commence this spring.
Director of Field Stewardship Shawn Green is slated to highlight the remarkable volunteer contributions made in 2023 and discuss opportunities for community involvement in 2024. Additionally, Capital Projects Manager Pauline Berkowitz will provide insights into the ongoing Germantown Neighborhood Connection, the East Falls Reroute, and various Habitat Restoration projects. Berkowitz will also share the latest developments in the Restroom Facilities Master Plan.
The meeting represents a significant opportunity for community members to learn about FOW's efforts in preserving and enhancing the Wissahickon Valley Park and to discover ways to contribute to these vital projects.
