The Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Lower School communities come together every Thanksgiving to support the Germantown Avenue Crisis Ministry and St. Vincent’s Food Cupboard, with each grade contributing toward the fixings for a full turkey dinner – from cranberry sauce to pumpkin pie. This year, parents Tom Nickel and Juliet Schweidel took a special interest in the project – resulting in a truck bearing a full bed of 88 frozen turkeys – for a grand total of 200 turkeys. “It was all for the boys,” said Nickel. “We wanted the boys to understand doing good things and the importance of giving back to other people.”
