Sixteen years ago my mother and my family chose to buy a house together in Chestnut Hill. My Swiss mother said it reminded her of a village. Today we reaped the benefits of small town living when strangers came to my mother's aid after a fall during a walk at the top of the hill.
As my mom tells it, these strangers didn't hesitate to help and even offered her a ride to the hospital. They coordinated communication until family could pick her up and, most importantly, comforted her and made her feel safe at a vulnerable time.

We cherish our community and our neighbors and today we are grateful for the kindness of strangers who could very well be neighbors. Besides being banged up and sore, my mother is OK with no major injuries. Thank you to whomever you are.
