Menorah lighting in Chestnut Hill

Hanukkah, the Jewish community’s Festival of Lights, will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Dec. 19, with a public menorah lighting at Cliff Park, 7620 Germantown Ave. in Chestnut Hill. The event, which is free and sponsored by Chabad of Northwest Philadelphia, will include the ceremonial lighting of a large outdoor menorah and refreshments including latkes and donuts will be served.  For information, call Rabbi Yitzchok Gurevitz at 215-847-9042 or visit chabadnwp.org.

Germantown Jewish Centre

The Mt. Airy synagogue will host an afternoon of storytelling, music and art making for children 18 months to 6 at 3:30 p.m., Dec. 18. DJ Rak-Dan will spin dance tunes at a party that includes games, giveaways and swag starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 22. During the evening attendees will gather to light the synagogue’s Dancing Children Hanukiyah (menorah). A food truck under OU supervision will serve refreshments. Beth Tikvah B’nai Jeshurun

Songwriter, educator and rocker Naomi Less will be featured at a Hanukkah celebration and family concert at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 18. This is a regular day of Religious School highlighted by a concert. To RSVP and for information, visit btbj.org. The synagogue is 1001 Paper Mill Rd., Erdenheim.

 

Mishkan Shalom

The Roxborough synagogue will celebrate the first night of Hanukkah and the dedication of the Mishkan @30 Mural at 6 p.m. Dec. 18. For information visit mishkan.org. The synagogue is at 4101 Freeland Ave.

The Lafayette synagogue community will gather for their “Got Chanukah Celebration” at noon, Dec. 18 and another holiday program follows on Dec. 22. For information visit or-ami.org. The synagogue is 708 Ridge Pike.
