Hanukkah, the Jewish community’s Festival of Lights, will be celebrated at 7 p.m., Dec. 19, with a public menorah lighting at Cliff Park, 7620 Germantown Ave. in Chestnut Hill. The event, which is free and sponsored by Chabad of Northwest Philadelphia, will include the ceremonial lighting of a large outdoor menorah and refreshments including latkes and donuts will be served. Germantown Jewish Centre
The Mt. Airy synagogue will host an afternoon of storytelling, music and art making for children 18 months to 6 at 3:30 p.m., Dec. 18. DJ Rak-Dan will spin dance tunes at a party that includes games, giveaways and swag starting at 6 p.m. Dec. 22. During the evening attendees will gather to light the synagogue’s Dancing Children Hanukiyah (menorah). A food truck under OU supervision will serve refreshments. Beth Tikvah B’nai Jeshurun
