High winds throughout the day brought down a large portion of a multi-trunk tree on the 200 block of E. Highland Avenue. Winds in Philadelphia were especially high, reaching a peak gust of 35.7 mph according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. That speed is considered "near gale force."
