Holy Cross School – The Choice for Achievement

Posted

Located in beautiful Mount Airy since 1910, Holy Cross School is a landmark in the community. Holy Cross School is Middle States accredited and offers a small class size, with caring, experienced, highly qualified teachers. At a time when learning loss caused by the pandemic is still a challenge throughout the nation and the world, Holy Cross students excel in academic achievement and outperform schools locally and nationally in reading, math, and science.

High expectations lead to high aspirations. Most Holy Cross students are accepted into the high schools of their choice, and many earn significant scholarships. Holy Cross graduates go on to schools such as Merion Mercy Academy, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School, La Salle College High School, and Archdiocesan high schools.

Holy Cross offers accelerated and advanced learning opportunities in addition to highly rated, research-based curricula. We help students develop into readers, writers, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and communicators who are well prepared for continued success in their future choices. Holy Cross is committed to student success, supporting students to achieve competitive scores on high school placement tests for scholarships and advanced placement. Learning celebrations are held every trimester with recognition for students who achieve their goals.

We offer before- and after-care with breakfast, lunch, and an afterschool snack. Art, music, and physical education classes are provided for all students with content experts. Every student has a laptop and all classrooms have SMART Boards.

Extracurricular activities include CYO basketball, student council, school newspaper, and clubs including art, Spanish, chess, and step.

Students learn life lessons through Catholic Social Justice Teaching and service to others. Student efforts benefit the Hope Food Pantry, Cradles To Crayons and other local causes. Students are recognized monthly for exemplifying faith-based values.

All grades participate in field trips and assemblies. Academic and cultural experiences include the Museum of the American Revolution, Independence Seaport Museum, Challenger Mission Center, The Clay Studio, The Franklin Institute, Musicopia – West African Drum and Dance, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and The Philadelphia Museum of Art among others.

Our Family Association enhances the partnership between home and school. All Holy Cross families are automatically members of the Family Association. Meetings are monthly and include planning for activities like the Halloween event and fundraisers.

We offer families of all faiths and income levels the opportunity for their children to experience academic excellence and grow in a culture of love.  Financial aid is available to everyone.
