Do you know a fan of speculative fiction who’s hungry for a good holiday gift? It’s not too late to consider a comic book, manga, science fiction, fantasy, or horror-themed cookbook — and some can be bought right here in Chestnut Hill.

Fandom cookbooks have been a recent addition to the speculative fiction store Multiverse, according to co-owner Gralin Hughes, Jr. The unique recipes offered by these books have caught the eye of fans who’ve dropped by the shop.

Here are three examples of available fandom cookbooks that will satisfy your appetite:

‘PAC-MAN: The Official Cookbook’

If there’s one thing PAC-MAN does, it’s eat. This PAC-MAN cookbook has 60 a-maze-ing recipes, all inspired by the classic arcade game character and his friends. From delicious appetizers to scrumptious meals, there’s plenty to gobble up — and it’s not just cherries and bananas.

The book is bursting with vibrant colors just like the arcade game and has step-by-step instructions. Chefs of all skill levels can try the imaginative recipes, chomping their way to the legendary level 256 without fear of roaming ghosts. Sample recipes include Inky’s Wings, PAC-MAN Mac & Cheese, Cherry Pocket Pies, and Ghost Cake Pops.

Plus, the cookbook is filled with classic art and video game lore, making it a great collectible both for those who played the 1980 arcade game and the younger generations who play TikTok’s PAC-MAN: WAKA WAKA Run.

‘The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook, Volume 2’

Enjoy more than 70 recipes from across the world of the beloved multiplayer online game Final Fantasy XIV. In this second volume, travel beyond Eorzea to the realms introduced in the award-winning Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions — including the regions of Tuliyollal, Garlemald, Thavnair, Sharlayan, the First, Elpis, and even the far edges of Ultima Thule.

This cookbook begins with a foreword written by the game’s director Naoki Yoshida. Then, enjoy easy-to-follow directions for recipes such as an Ala Mhigan broth, a hot buuz, a plate of xibruq pibil, or Zero’s spicy curry. Any warrior can learn to make these iconic in-game foods and hit the level cap in no time.

The book also has mouth-watering photos of finished recipes that would make any journey worth the challenge.

‘Persona: The Official Cookbook’

Delve into the memorable culinary moments from the Persona franchise, including Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal, from cooking with SEES members to hanging out in the familiar booths of Café Leblanc.

From Tatsumi Port Island to Inaba to Tokyo, experience the meals that bring the series’ characters closer together and strengthen them for the fight ahead. Try 55 recipes, including the Mystery Food X concocted by Yukiko and Chie, a skewer of juicy fsteak, or the famous Master Curry and Master Coffee. With this cookbook, there’s no need for Shinjiro’s subscription to the monthly “Family Cooking” magazine.

Fans will be sure to raise their Social Links by sharing recipes with friends and closest confidantes.
