Oct. 31 isn’t just Halloween but also the ancient Irish holiday of Samhain (pronounced “SOW-un”), marking the end of the harvest and when the spirits of ancestors are close. Three generations of Irish music masters will conjure up those spirits in concert, playing the music of the traditional Irish repertoire that evening at the Commodore John Barry Arts and Cultural Center (The Irish Center), 6815 Emlen St., in Mt. Airy.

Fiddle icon Kevin Burke, acclaimed vocalist and guitarist Eamon O’Leary, and four-time All-Ireland fiddle champion Dylan Foley, collectively called “The Strayaways,” are joining for a first-time tour.

Tickets purchased online in advance are $25 for Philadelphia Ceili Group members, $30 for nonmembers, and $35 at the door, available through the Philadelphia Ceili Group, philadelphiaceiligroup.org. The performance begins at 8 p.m.

London-born and Sligo-bred, Burke is a legend in traditional Irish music. From Ireland’s iconic Bothy Band, he’s worked with Kate Bush, Arlo Guthrie, Liam O Maonlai (Hothouse Flowers) and Matt Molloy (The Chieftains), and holds a prestigious NEA National Heritage Award. He’s known for his soulful musicality and deep knowledge of the Irish repertoire.

Eamon O’Leary, a Dublin expat based in New York City, is a gifted singer, songwriter and musician. His virtuosity on bouzouki and guitar is called “sumptuous” by The Guardian. O’Leary has been part of celebrated partnerships The Alt with John Doyle and Nuala Kennedy, and The Murphy Beds with Jefferson Hamer.

American fiddler Dylan Foley was raised immersed in the Catskills Irish music scene. Now a four-time All-Ireland fiddle champion, Foley is called “one of the finest fiddlers in America” by The Irish Echo.
