Janet Irene Elfant

After a long and courageous struggle, Janet Irene Elfant passed away on February 18, 2024.  She died peacefully at the age of 69, from complications of Myelodysplastic (MDS) syndrome.

Janet grew up in Springfield Township Montgomery County, daughter of the late Martin and Sylvia Flick Elfant. She graduated from Springfield Township High School and Gratz College Hebrew High School, attended University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Goddard College in Vermont. Most recently, she resided on the 400 block of West Durham Street in Mt Airy where she was surrounded by good friends and neighbors.  This community provided Janet with much loving support during her long illness. 

Janet was the devoted mother of Noah, the late Avriel, and Hannah (Mehmet) Keogh. She is survived by her two sisters, Ina and Kay, brother, Robert, sister in law, Nancy and many devoted nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Maxie and cat, Tikvah.

Although Janet worked at Blue Marble Bookstore and Elfant Pontz Properties, she is most remembered as the warm and welcoming greeter and much more at Face to Face in Germantown. 

Janet has been much loved and will be missed by many.  Donations in her memory will be gratefully accepted by Face to Face, 123 East Price Street, Philadelphia 19144. A funeral service will be held at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, 321 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004 at 1:00 PM, Wednesday February 21, 2024.  Burial at Mt Lebanon Cemetery.
