John Pregmon, who passed away on April 11, 2026, was dedicated to his family, friends, the outdoors, and Penntex, the construction management business he founded.
Born in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, John’s favorite childhood memories were of his adventures exploring the deeply forested mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Old Forge High School in 1961, he pursued his goal of becoming a civil engineer, studying first at Wilkes College and later earning a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Villanova University.
John began his professional life as an engineer with PennDOT, followed by a role as Township Engineer for Upper Merion Township, after which he joined Rouse & Associates developing office parks in the Philadelphia region. In 1979, John founded the company which became Penntex Construction, providing comprehensive construction management services throughout the Philadelphia region. John Pregmon served as President and CEO of Penntex for 40 years, building a legacy of dependability, integrity and client service.
John maintained a rigorous and disciplined fitness ethic throughout his life. A competitive weightlifter in his youth, he worked out daily until he could no longer fight the progress of Parkinson’s disease. He was an avid sportsman – hunting, fishing and shooting sports provided John with treasured time in the outdoors with fellow enthusiasts. With his family, he enjoyed boating and kayaking on the Barnegat Bay, the Chesapeake Bay, and in the Bahamas. The wide-open prairies of South Dakota also held a special place in John’s heart, for he loved to reunite there annually with a group of friends for pheasant hunting.
John and his beloved wife Patricia were long-time residents of the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, where they made a home full of life and love for their family. In 2022, they moved to Pennswood Village, a retirement community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania to be nearer to their daughter, Lauren, and her family.
John was predeceased by his parents, John Pregmon and Helen (Gambal) Pregmon, and a sister, Gladys (Pregmon) Russin. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Patricia (Leon) Pregmon; his two daughters, Lauren Pregmon Tetreault (Bruce Tetreault) of Newtown PA, and Elisabeth Genta (Wesley Genta) of Ridgeland, SC; and his three cherished grandchildren, Lillian and Phoebe Tetreault, and John Patrick (JP) Dorsey.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor John’s memory to make a donation to a wildlife conservation organization of their choice. Causes he supported include Ducks Unlimited (ducks.org) and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (rmef.org). A gift to either organization would be a fitting tribute to a man who so deeply loved the wild places of this world.
