Joe Harmar, 73, passed away on August 30, 2025, at his home in Rancho Mirage, CA, surrounded by family, friends, and love.
Born in Chestnut Hill, PA, to Mary and William Harmar, Joe was devoted to his siblings—Billy (Anna), Robbie, Charley (Emily), Nina (Fargo), and Holly (Osamu). He was a beloved uncle to his nieces Ashley, Holly, Alexa, and Lila, and his nephews Billy, Harmar, Bevan, and Josiah. He also shared a lifelong friendship with Anne Day.
Joe is survived by his loving husband of 21 years, Frank Lewis. Together, they built a life full of joy, especially through their travels and cherished time in the Bahamas.
Joe spent more than five decades in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he built a wide circle of close, lifelong friends—his California family. For more than 30 years, he co-owned Spotlight Promotions with his dear friend and business partner, Terri Cassin.
This year, Joe celebrated 34 years of sobriety, a milestone he carried with deep gratitude and strength. Known for his warmth, humor, and infectious laugh, Joe had a gift for making everyone feel special. He brought light to every room and will be remembered as a kind, joyful, and truly remarkable person. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, 8000 St. Martins Lane, Philadelphia, on Saturday, May 2, at 2:00 p.m.
