The original recommendations that your committee submitted were comprised of a large number of properties within your organization’s boundaries. Those properties appeared to be 90% spot-zoned and City Planning advised me that your suggestions would be impossible to implement.
Due to their statement, I requested them to prepare maps reflecting your proposed changes. When that lengthy process was complete, it was apparent the map was completely spot-zoned. I asked that City Planning work with your committee to produce a more viable option. Your committee later collaborated with them through several iterations of plans which pared back many of your recommendations that culminated in the bill that was eventually presented to me at the end of February.
We began examining the bill and maps in early March, but it takes time to fully review the changes.
When that review is complete, I anticipate introducing the legislation soon afterward.
We thank WCGN’s zoning subcommittee for your hard work on this project.
