Part of the problem between the SEPTA board and the riders is that the members of the board do not always listen carefully to riders' concerns and safety.

I am a SEPTA rider. I use it to go to work, doctor appointments and shopping, as well as other things.
I belong to the Philly Transit Riders Union, and I think that the SEPTA board does not have great rider representation.
Part of the problem between the SEPTA board and the riders is that the members of the board do not always listen carefully to riders' concerns and safety.
In an article I read in the Philadelphia Tribune, it mentioned that the SEPTA board does not have adequate representation of its black riders. The article stated there were only three black members of the SEPTA board representing the riders.
I feel sometimes the SEPTA board members show more concern about the regional rails than its subways and buses. The board members could show concern towards the transit workers as well.
There could be great improvement with SEPTA services if they actually paid attention to the riding public. Some Philadelphia riders would like to see more transit police for protection and better customer services throughout the entire system.
There has been an uptick in crime on SEPTA and riders have been demanding more outreach to handle people who are homeless as well.
SEPTA is one of the largest public transportation systems in the entire country and needs to show its best to the riding public. I feel SEPTA has not yet really shown they can provide the best services, even though they have been improving their vehicles throughout the entire system.
SEPTA needs to be aware of the problems that riders face on a daily basis and provide solutions.
