Historic Germantown’s “Music Alive” series continues Sept. 14 with a concert featuring vocalist Rhenda Fearrington, harpist Gloria Galante and guitarist Jim Dragoni.
The performance, called “Songs and Stories from the Road,” will chronicle the musical experiences of the artists who have performed with stars including Roberta Flack, Frank Sinatra, Luther Vandross and Mose Allison.
The “Music Alive” series, which includes six concerts, explores the progression of American roots music, blues and jazz, beginning in the 1920s through the turn of the century. The series was developed in partnership with Dragoni.
Upcoming concerts will feature Philadelphia saxophonist Odean Pope, in a Sept. 28 performance that was postponed from earlier this year, keyboardist Paul Woznicki, who will play “cosmic ambience jazz and blues” on Oct. 12, and Saul Broudy on Nov. 2, in another performance that was postponed from an earlier date. Broudy will perform “Songs of the Dust Bowl, Woody Guthrie and Beyond.”
All performances are at 4 p.m. at Historic Germantown, 5501 Germantown Ave. The Sept. 14 performance is free. For information, visit historicgermantownpa.org.
