November starts with the re-enactment of  a Revolutionary War historic event and closes with the official kickoff of the holiday season!  Highlight events include the 1777 Whitemarsh Encampment re-enactment in Fort Washington,  Manayunk Gettting "Lit", the Holiday Garden Railway rolling into Morris Arboretum and Small Business Saturday Shop Local events in neighborhoods across the area.

1777 WHITEMARSH ENCAMPMENT

Since 1982, Hope Lodge has held re-enactments to commemorate the time General George Washington and the Continental Army encamped in the Whitemarsh Hills. In addition to re-enactment activities, the day includes self-guided tours of the Hope Lodge mansion, colonial life demonstrations, special events for children, food trucks and more. Get in the holiday spirit at the kickoff of Manayunk’s annual holiday decorating contest! CIRCLE OF TREES CELEBRATION        

Chestnut Hill’s kickoff for the holiday season presented by the Chestnut Hill Community Assn., Chestnut Hill Business Assn., Chestnut Hill Conservancy and the Woodmere Art Museum. Community members enjoy hot chocolate, cider, and music while awaiting the arrival of Santa and the lighting of the trees and art museum.
