Penn Charter junior Alli DeLisi reclaimed the top spot at the Inter-Ac League girls' cross country championships on Oct. 16, but her Quakers team was edged out for the team title by defending champion Academy of Notre Dame, 55-62.

As a freshman, DeLisi had finished first just ahead of Notre Dame's Therese Trainer, but in 2022 the two runners reversed positions. With Trainer now at Penn State, DeLisi was essentially unchallenged as she won last week's meet at Belmont Plateau in a time of 19 minutes, five and nine-tenths seconds.

Episcopal Academy freshman Kendra Williamson placed second in 19:58.2 and her team ranked third with 64 points. In third place, in 20:24.9, was another ninth-grader, Nieve Keitel, who transferred from Penn Charter to Germantown Academy this year. GA was fifth in the team standings with 102 points, behind number four Agnes Irwin School, with a score of 79.

Yet another freshman, Claire Lynch, was the lead runner for Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, (16th overall in 22:36.7), which placed sixth with 139 points, ahead of Baldwin School (168).

Following GA's Keitel to the finish line and placing fourth was the lead runner for Notre Dame, junior Mary Rossano (20:52.8). Three other finishers for the Irish were among the top 12, and later they took the 25th spot to retain the league championship.

After DeLisi, Penn Charter had a trio of runners place 13th through 15th; freshman Jackie Plastaras (22:23.9), senior Grace Neuwirth (22:28.1), and sophomore Audrey Abernathy (22:30.9). The fifth scorer was another top-20 finisher, freshman Chloe Greenwalt (19th; 23:01.4).

One place after Greenwalt came the number two runner for GA, eighth-grader Annabelle Steckel (23:11.7). and right with the youngster was Patriots senior Abby Durkin (21st; 23:12.6). Later in the 23-minute bracket came junior Sanya Bandekar (26th; 23:50.0), and the number five for the Pats was senior Maggie Morrissey (32nd; 24:24.2).

Like GA, Springside Chestnut Hill's number two finisher was an eighth-grader; Bella Tinneny landed 17th in 22:47.0. The other three scorers for the Blue Devils were also underclassmen; sophomore Lauren Wilson (27th; 23:55.3), sophomore Grian O'Connor (35th: 24:39.8), and freshman Emma Hannigan (44th; 26:10.9).
