Road closures announced for marathon weekend

The City of Philadelphia has released information about upcoming road closures associated with the Philadelphia Marathon Race Weekend. Streets will be closed in many parts of the city from Friday, Nov. 21, to Sunday, Nov. 23. Traffic delays can be expected. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, avoid areas along the racecourse, allow for extra travel time, and proceed with caution during the race weekend.

The City of Philadelphia has released information about upcoming road closures associated with the Philadelphia Marathon Race Weekend. Streets will be closed in many parts of the city from Friday, Nov. 21, to Sunday, Nov. 23. Traffic delays can be expected. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, avoid areas along the racecourse, allow for extra travel time, and proceed with caution during the race weekend.

In a press release, the city said that because of enhanced security around the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, parking and traffic regulations will be strictly enforced. Street closures will be implemented on a rolling basis and lifted as runners go by, and roads are serviced. City officials urge motorists to refrain from double parking.

The Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed from Friday through Sunday.

The I-676 off-ramp at 22nd Street (westbound) will be closed on Saturday and Sunday at 4:00 a.m. for event security preparation. Ramps at 15th and Broad streets may also close if needed.
