Councilmember Jamie Gauthier has introduced the Stop Trashing Our Air Act. This bill will end the incineration of Philly’s trash in Chester. Currently, the City sends 37% of Philly’s trash to the Reworld (Covanta) incinerator in Chester, and that contract is up in June. This bill is scheduled to be heard in the Committee on the Environment on Monday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m. Now is the time to chart a cleaner, healthier path for both cities.
