The Blue Devils and the Patriots were part of a three-way tie for the 2025 league title with the Academy of Notre Dame.
Both teams will be looking to overthrow defending Pa. Independent Schools champ Notre Dame, which defeated GA in the tournament semifinals last fall and then knocked off SCH in the finals. The Irish are under new leadership this fall, since their highly successful longtime head coach, Mike Sheridan, has retired.
Springside Chestnut Hill and GA both return veteran head coaches. Dave Noll is entering his 10th season at the helm of the SCH program, and the assistant coaches are Ayana Shakera Davis-Howard and Brian Karakaedos. At GA, Chuck Dougherty embarks on his sixth season piloting the program, with Eli Porr returning as assistant coach.
Gone with SCH’s class of 2026 is All-Inter-Ac selection London Jackson, but the success of last year’s team was driven largely by underclassmen.
Three all-league picks return: senior Sidney Smith (1st Team) and juniors Maddi Moynihan (1st Team) and Chloe Roberts (2nd Team).
In addition to Smith, the seniors on the 2026 roster are veterans Kalyn Freund, Taylor Heery and Elijah McMullen, and a new 12th grader on the team is Ziya DeVeaux. Moynihan and Roberts are joined by returning junior classmates Simisola Mabogunje and Cora Zimmermann. Three other 11th-graders have moved up to the varsity, Amber Alston, Emma Caton and Alana Houston. The lone freshman on the 2025 varsity, Freund’s sister Lielle, is back as a sophomore.
In contrast to the seasoned Blue Devils, the GA Patriots are rebuilding after graduating last year’s talented seniors – nine of them in all. That group included three 1st Team and one 2nd Team All-Inter-Ac players.
The GA team captains for 2026 are seniors Harper Sylva and Raphi Salomon, and the other members of the Class of 2027 are Camryn Horwitz, Sydney Kozel, Delaney Schwartz, Emma Seckinger and Isabella Zarro.
There is just one junior, Julia Maxwell, and three sophomores, Chloe Armenakis, Gwen Dubbs and Kiersten Ehnow. Maxwell was already on varsity as a freshman, and Dubbs is a transfer student.
The half-dozen freshmen on the squad bring a good deal of experience on club teams. They are Maeve Corson, Erin Flannery, Sterling Forer, Olive Kou, Eliana Sophia Leorda Bejan and Madison Monley-Lewis.
