The 2026 Inter-Ac League season in boys’ lacrosse began earlier this month, and already a familiar pattern is starting to emerge, with the three Main Line schools turning back challenges from the three institutions situated east of the Schuylkill River.

On the east bank, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy has already recorded convincing victories over its peers, topping Penn Charter, 16-6, on April 10, and then traveling to Germantown Academy on April 14 to defeat the Patriots, 18-8.

The SCH Blue Devils had launched their league campaign on April 7 with a 16-7 loss to Haverford School, so the April 14 win at GA gave them a 2-1 mark in the Inter-Ac and a 9-5 record overall.

Three seniors scored hat tricks against the Patriots: Cole Carberry (two assists) who will go on to play for Brown University, Spencer Meile, who is headed to the U.S. Naval Academy, and Sebastian Small, who will play for Quinnipiac University. Sophomore goalie Brendan Dynan made seven saves for the win.

Junior Chris Weber led the GA attack with a hat trick of his own, while his classmate Spencer Beach was credited with nine saves in goal. GA, which had suffered earlier losses to Malvern Prep and Episcopal Academy, left the field with an 0-3 mark in the league and a 3-6 record overall.

In other contests on April 14, Penn Charter (0-3, 5-6) fell to Haverford, 15-4, while Malvern took sole possession of first place by beating Episcopal, 11-7.

At GA, SCH took the first shot of the game and saw it saved by GA’s Beach. The Patriots got on the board a minute-and-a-half into the contest as sophomore Landon Amorim came from behind the goal on the left side to score. Less than a minute later, the Blue Devils’ Carberry evened it up as he whipped a shot from the top of the offensive set.

The 1-1 tie held up for some time; then with 1:51 remaining in the opening quarter, senior Zach Silverman (a University of Vermont recruit) connected on an outside shot to move the visitors ahead for good. Not long after that the Devils called time out, then returned to the field to score three times in the final minute of the period.

First, Meile scored on the other Spencer, GA’s Beach, with 55 seconds on the clock. In the final 17 seconds, seniors Ken Vaughn (Hampton Institute) and Henry Bertelsen (Johns Hopkins) both rippled the GA net for a 5-1 advantage going into the second period.

After this breach of the Patriots’ defense late in the first quarter, points continued to pour onto the visitors’ side of the scoreboard. The second quarter began with SCH ringing up three goals in just over 90 seconds. GA’s Weber put in the Patriots’ second goal with 8:33 remaining in the first half to interrupt the visitors’ scoring streak.

The 8-2 count remained on the board for a few minutes and the half ended with another offensive flurry for Blue Devils, who scored four times in the last three minutes and 42 seconds for a 12-2 halftime lead.

The action in the third quarter followed the same scenario, and the visitors were ahead 17-4 going into the final round. The Patriots’ attack revived somewhat, as senior Ryan Maxwell made good on an outside shot for the first of three straight GA goals. That made it 17-7 with 6:42 remaining in the game, and each side added one point after that.

With 90 seconds to go, Springside Chestnut Hill sent in sophomore reserve goalie Joe Ferguson.

In addition to Carberry, Meile and Small, the multiple goalscorers for SCH were Silverman, Vaughn, and sophomores Weston Lanzetta and Micah Weiman, who had two goals each. Bertelson’s goal rounded out the Blue Devils’ final score. Bertelson and sophomore James Simonetti shared face-off duty, winning a total of 26 for the afternoon.

Backing up Weber on the GA offense were sophomore Landon Murray, with two goals, and Amorim, Maxwell and senior Timothy Ginter. Ginter, who will play for St. Joseph’s University, is team co-captain along with classmate Rowen Harbert, who will play at Skidmore College.
