St. Paul's and St. Martin's Episcopal Churches joined the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill to organize a Prayer Vigil for Peace in Ukraine on Sunday evening, March 27th. About 100 people gathered at the Presbyterian Church for the candlelight gathering. Participants included clergy and members from several local interfaith congregations. The event included prayers for peace, poetry, and meditative singing.
In addition to prayers for an urgent cessation of fighting and an end to the suffering in Ukraine, Presbyterian Church Pastor John Wilkinson said there is a desperate need for financial resources and humanitarian aid, and that the recovery effort for the people of Ukraine would continue to demand long drawn-out action and support from their allies and friends in this country.
