Storms, power outage sweep across the Northwest

A dramatic thunderstorm tore through the Philadelphia metropolitan area Monday evening, bringing high winds and torrents of rain as well as a tornado warning from the National Weather Service. Winds were strong enough to down trees all over the region and leave about 35,000 households without power. Whitemarsh resident Phil Chapline captured this image of the sky just north of Chestnut Hill at about 6:30 p.m.
