More than 40 seniors from Cathedral Village were joined by more than 10 students and parents from WB Saul High School and the William Penn Charter School last week in a demonstration in favor of stronger gun safety measures in Pennsylvania. The demonstration, initiated by Indivisible at Cathedral Village, also drew the presence of State Rep. Tarik Kahn and State Sen. Vincent Hughes. Both urged the demonstrators to call and write members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to urge them to vote in favor of two key bills: House Bill 714, Universal Background Checks, and HB 1018, Red Flag Laws (keeping guns away from those known to be a threat to themselves and others). Cathedral Village Indivisible is eager to hear from parents and youth in local schools who share the concern that gun violence must be reduced to make all our schools safe.
