A fresh copy of The Local is one of my simple pleasures in life. When I pick up that faded ink bifolded paper it harkens back to days of yore. My ritual is to leaf through quickly, then return to the front and read it closely. In a time when mainstream media has you all fired up about how calamitous the world is, it's centering to focus on our truly incredible neighborhood. When communities seem to be unraveling and less cohesive, the local is a unifying beacon that reminds me of what it means to be a part of a community. It's the social fabric, the binding agent that informs us of remarkable neighbors and new businesses. It gives us a reprieve from being inundated with all the serious woes of the world. The Local isn't just a small town newspaper; it's an extension of who we are. It's not easy, or convenient, to live or have a business in Chestnut Hill. Sure there are conveniences, but let's be honest: there's a lot of red tape. This is an intentional community that chooses to live and work here when it might make more sense to be almost anywhere else. It's a unique place, which is why we love and care for it. Most of the major developments in the area are covered, specifically meaningful subjects that directly affect us. Where else are you going to get this? Content you didn't know you needed is delivered to your doorstep and online. It's no small feat to consistently provide this level of insight and content on a weekly basis. When everyone and everything is competing for your attention we are truly fortunate to have The Local to bring us back home. If you've managed to read this far then I know you feel (mostly) the same as I do.
Cheers to The Local and everyone who plays a role in keeping it going!
