The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association Foundation last week announced its 2026 News Organization of the Year Awards, with the Chestnut Hill Local winning honors in the weekly publication category for the fourth year in a row.

The announcement follows awards earlier this year to the Local’s news and advertising departments. Last month, the newsroom won a dozen PNA Professional Keystone Media Awards for its journalism, and in May, the advertising department for the second year in a row won a sweepstakes award in the PNA Foundation Advertising Contest.

In the News Organization of the Year competition, TheBurg (Harrisburg) received first place for weeklies while the Chestnut Hill Local earned second-place honors. For multi-day publications, PennLive/The Patriot-News (Harrisburg) won first-place honors while the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette received second place. The awards recognize Pennsylvania news companies for overall excellence across all departments.

“Being honored with a second-place showing for the fourth year in a row speaks to the heart and skill that every member of our organization brings to this work,” said Laura Lucas, publisher of the Local and president of the Chestnut Hill Community Association. “From reporting and editing to photography, design, production, circulation and advertising, this award reflects excellence across the board. It’s an honor to be recognized among Pennsylvania’s best weeklies, and it strengthens our commitment to delivering journalism that informs, connects and inspires.”

More than 120 news organizations from across Pennsylvania competed for NOY Awards throughout the year by submitting their work for Keystone Media Awards and the PNA Foundation Advertising Contest. NOY recognition is determined by the highest accumulated points across all categories and divisions. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Oct. 8 in Harrisburg.
