Posted

SEPTA last week resumed weekday hourly service on its Chestnut Hill East regional rail line for the first time since August. Service had been temporarily decreased on the line due to ongoing track work.

As a result, the transit agency’s new schedule for the line now has three additional inbound trains that leave Chestnut Hill East Station at 9:57 a.m., 11:57 a.m. and 2:02 p.m. Those trains will arrive at Center City’s Suburban Station at 10:35 a.m., 12:35 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. respectively.

It also added three outbound trains, which will depart Suburban Station at 8:47 a.m., 10:52 a.m. and 12:44 a.m. The trains will arrive at Chestnut Hill East station at 9:27 a.m., 11:32 a.m. and 1:24 p.m., respectively.

According to the most recent data provided by SEPTA, the transit agency’s ridership is hovering around 56% of what it was before the pandemic. With the addition of the six train lines on Chestnut Hill East, service levels have increased from 76% to 77% of what they were before the pandemic.
