Valentine’s Day gets a comedy makeover at The Royal

Posted

The Royal Music & Arts Center in Glenside is turning traditional Valentine's celebrations on their head Feb. 21 with "Not Yo Momma's Valentine's Special," a comedy showcase that promises to explore the funnier side of romance.

Headlining the event is Derek Lee, whose appearances on "Showtime at the Apollo" and "Comic View" have established him as a force in Philadelphia comedy. He leads a diverse lineup of rising stars and established performers, including Connor McGovern, host of the "Way 2 Spooky" podcast, and Justin Lamar, who has earned his stripes at the prestigious Laugh Factory.

The show also features Garret Manoco, known for his work with Biggest Little Comedy, and Jakai Bishop, fresh from her appearance on Tubi's "Work Bae." Together, they're creating what organizers Just N Joy describe as "a Valentine's experience filled with laughs, love, and plenty of surprises."

The show is at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30). Tickets are $20 to $25. (Tickets may be available at the door.) For tickets and more information, visit theroyalglenside.com.
