The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 7 to July 14.

The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 7 to July 14. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) 

Chestnut Hill

July 7. Motor Vehicle theft. Complainant parked their car in the 200 block of East Gravers Lane and when they returned the Hyundai Venue was gone.

July 7. Theft from motor vehicle. Complainant reported that he parked his car near the intersection of Winston Road and East Mermaid Lane and when he returned the rear window of his Hyundai Sonata was smashed and $3 was missing.

July 7.  Shoplifting. An offender walked into the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and took deodorant and air fresheners without paying for them.

July 7. Theft. A man told police that he was in the process of moving out of a residence in the 300 block of East Willow Grove Avenue when leasing agents gave permission for contractors to enter the location. When he returned, items including his Xbox and Playstation were missing.  The leasing agent contacted the contractor who said the contractors will mail back the items.  

July 7. Vandalism. Complainant parked their car in the 300 block of East Gravers Lane and when they returned the broken window of their Hyundai Santa Fe was smashed and the steering wheel tampered with.

July 11. Burglary. A man came to the 14th Police District to report that his son came into the man’s apartment at Chestnut Hill Village in the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue and took an iPhone, identification including a passport and multiple credit cards.

July 12. Shoplifting. A manager at the Iron Hill Brewery in the 8400 block of Germantown Avenue reported that a couple came into the restaurant, were served and left with hoodies, beer and food without paying.

July 12. Motor vehicle theft. A man reported that he last saw his Hyundai Sonata in front of his house in the 7800 block of Winston Road and then it was gone.

July 12. Shoplifting. An offender took soap, deodorant and food items from the Acme market in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street and left without paying for them.

July 12. A woman reported that she left her Hyundai Elantra legally parked on an apartment property in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and when she returned to the lot, the car was gone.

July 13. Vandalism, theft. A complainant parked their car in the unit block of Valley Green Road and when they returned a window was smashed and a cell phone and credit card were missing.

Mt. Airy

July 6. Motor vehicle theft. Complainant parked their car in the 7100 block of Emlen Street and when they returned the Hyundai Sonata was missing and broken glass was on the ground.

July 7. Vandalism. A man reported that he parked his Kia Soul in the 300 block of Gorgas Lane and when he returned the rear window was smashed and ignition damaged.

July 7. Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant parked her Hyundai Sonata in the 6800 block of Emlen Street and when she returned her rear window was broken and her work identification was missing.

July 8.  Shoplifting. An offender took Tide pod containers and left a store in the unit block of West Hortter Street without paying.

July 8. Theft. A woman told police that two of her trash cans were taken from the rear of a residence in the 1200 block of Barringer Street.

July 8. Vandalism. A complainant in the 200 block of Sedgwick Street reported that offenders broke into her rented Kia Soul, shattering a window and damaging a steering column.

July 9. Theft from building. A witness associated with the Pelham Park Apartments in the 200 block of West Upsal Street told police that a man took more than ten packages worth $100.

July 9. Shoplifting. A woman at the CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive entered the store alone, left with a man who had a bag of store items, but the store employee did not see him take anything. Hygiene products worth $500 were missing, however.

July 9. Motor vehicle theft.  A man reported to police that he parked his vehicle in the unit block of Sharpnack Street and when he returned the Kia Soul was missing.

July 10. Shoplifting. An offender walked into the Acme market in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue and took beer and chicken without paying.

July 10. A complainant near Lincoln Drive and Westview Avenue reported that their rented Kia Forte’s window was smashed and ignition damaged.

July 10. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant told police that the window of their car parked in the 6900 block of Greene Street was broken and the steering column was popped.

July 11. Aggravated Assault. A man in the 6900 block of Germantown Avenue told police that an offender struck him with a blunt object and caused him to lose consciousness. The offender was arrested.

July 12.  Aggravated Assault. A woman who lost her car keys and work iPhone at the Acme market pharmacy in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue, notified her husband so that he would watch her Toyota Avalon while she looked for the keys and phone. While the husband was sitting in the car, an offender popped the trunk. The woman confronted the offender who pulled out a box cutter and scratched the woman on the arm.

July 12. Theft from motor vehicle. Complainant told police that offenders tried to steal their vehicle, but the Hyundai Elantra kept shutting off. The car’s window and ignition were broken and the complainant’s registration card was missing.

July 13. Vandalism. Complainant told police that an offender broke into their Acura parked near the intersection of Kitchens Lane and Wissahickon Avenue, smashed the window and took a driver’s license and credit card.

July 13. Vandalism. A complainant in the 6600 block of Springbank Street discovered the rear window of their Kia Soul was smashed and the steering column damaged.

July 13. Motor vehicle theft. A stolen Nissan Maxima in the unit block of East Johnson Street that was involved in a car accident with police was recovered before the owner reported the car as stolen.

July 14. Vandalism. A man who parked his car in the 100 block of Allens Lane reported to police that when he returned to the Honda CRV, the interior was disheveled, ignition broken, but nothing taken.
