I loved your article in the Local about Roberto Clemente. I have been in the Chestnut Hill community since 1986 (in Philadelphia since 1972), but I grew up in western Pennsylvania, where my dad and brothers were huge Pittsburgh Pirate fans. How you described the way Roberto played the game was spot-on.
What an absolute joy to watch him play at Forbes Field. Topping it off was the play-by-play by Bob Prince. So many memories. It was Roberto the humanitarian who really was to be admired. When that plane went down, I and my brothers were in tears. It was like we lost a brother.
Thanks for remembering one of our heroes.
