New playground opens

Whitemarsh Township celebrated the opening of its new "Magical Miles Park Playground" and multi-use courts on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The inclusive playground features accessible equipment, pedestrian walkways, and a solar cell phone charging station. Adjacent basketball courts were renovated to include pickleball lines, new lighting, and bleachers.

Whitemarsh Township celebrated the opening of its new "Magical Miles Park Playground" and multi-use courts on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The inclusive playground features accessible equipment, pedestrian walkways, and a solar cell phone charging station. Adjacent basketball courts were renovated to include pickleball lines, new lighting, and bleachers.

Local officials and community members gathered for the event, joined by the Montgomery County Down Syndrome Interest Group. Following the ceremony, law enforcement agencies, fire companies, and emergency services hosted activities for the group.

The project, partially funded by state grants and township money, aims to enhance recreational opportunities for residents of all abilities.

The new facilities are now open to the public.
