The Mt. Airy Community Development Corp.’s “Taste of Mt. Airy” spring fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, from 7-10 p.m. at the Commodore John Barry Arts and Cultural Center, 6815 Emlen St.

The menu will be provided by local restaurants and food businesses, bringing their signature dishes and drinks, with local musician Reverend Chris and his band playing live New Orleans jazz and swing. The celebration will feature dining, dancing, mingling and an open bar serving beer, wine and cocktails. Attendees can sample signature dishes and creations, and vote on their favorites. The suggested dress is “colorful cocktail.”

Among those participating will be Bar Lizette, Flat Belly Veg, the Blue Warbler Corner & Garden, Toska Restaurant & Brewery, Aunt Verlea’s Pound Cake Experience, the Frosted Fox Cake Shop, Malelani Cafe, High Point Cafe, Kozie’s Water Ice & Ice Cream, Alison’s Tea Room, Tired Hands Brewing Company, and Southern Flames BBQ.

The proceeds will support neighborhood programs including housing counseling for low- to moderate-income homebuyers; small business services and the Go Mt. Airy Business Association; ethical real estate development; summer reading camps and literacy initiatives; and free community events like Supper Sessions and Autumn on the Avenue.

Tickets are available at various prices, ranging from $50 to $250, and the Mt. Airy CDC asks that people give what they can to support the group’s work in the community. All food and beverages are included in the ticket price. More information is available at mtairycdc.org/taste, as well as the organization’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.
