One thing that came through loud and clear: Aside from menu items, the location’s atmosphere and friendliness of the staff were key components in their recommendations. Let’s check out the most-reviewed spots.

The ‘Locals’ fav in Wyndmoor

Locals Coffee, at the corner of East Willow Grove Avenue and Flourtown Road, was the most-reviewed coffee shop in our poll. In addition to their menu, Locals checks all the boxes for customer preferences, offering indoor and outdoor seating, a drive-through for those on-the-run days and locally roasted beans for people who want to stay at home in their pajamas. Locals opened a second location in Fort Washington last year. Here’s a sampling of what their fans are saying:

“Delicious coffee and eats at Locals Coffee in Wyndmoor! The beans are fresh and roasted in house, and the sandwiches are artisan level. The shop itself is warm, inviting and cozy. I love all the families and friends that gather here. It is one of the highlights of our neighborhood. This coffee shop is the first to help a neighbor in need. A true pillar of community and love."

— Michelle from Wyndmoor

“Locals has been a staple of my weekend morning routine, a quick fix on those weekdays too busy for lunch prep, and purveyors of my daily coffee beans as I survive the first months of parenthood. Their outdoor seating is always a comfortable space for my son to fall asleep, while I enjoy some light reading along with a delicious bagel or sausage, egg and cheese sandwich. Their custom coffees are also always a treat that meets the seasons where it’s at, hot or cold.” — Gabriel from Wyndmoor

And Kelly from Cheltenham adds: “I use their espresso beans exclusively for my own home machine.”

A gem in Roxborough

After opening just months ago, in January 2026, Potheads Coffee at 7620 Ridge Ave. in Roxborough has developed a loyal following very quickly. Reviewers made it clear that Potheads wants you to come back again and again, offering a creative menu with four monthly specials and two floors to relax and hang out.

“No corners cut in this coffee shop! Casual, comfortable vibe upstairs with couches, chairs and board games. Room to ‘work from home.’ Free Wi-Fi, delicious sandwiches, breakfast treats and service. Give them a try... you won’t regret it.”

— Holly from Roxborough

“Potheads Coffee in Roxborough hits all the right notes from the people to the product. I am so glad to have found the quintessential cup of black medium roast coffee in their ‘Columbian’ for my daily morning start. A perfect balance for the everyday ritual. And when I’m treating myself, there is a seemingly limitless variety of espressos, lattes and Americanos to please the full spectrum of discriminating java palettes. Whether it’s the sweet, delectable ‘Scottie’ latte and its butterscotch and honey, the subtle yet savory ‘Saint Bernard’ with its blackberry and chocolate cold foam, or the whimsical ‘Pittie Party’ and its toffee and chocolate sprinkles, there’s no shortage of ways to stimulate your taste buds. Put Potheads on your ‘must try’ Philly coffee shops list!”

— John from Roxborough

Grace from Roxborough says, “Love, love, love this addition to the neighborhood.”

Mt. Airy mainstay

High Point Café has been a community fixture for over 20 years. Their first location, the “Mother Ship,” is located on Carpenter Lane, just across from C.W. Henry Elementary School. Their second location is at the Richard Allen Lane Train Station, where High Point plays host to Sunday Markets during the summer months.

“It’s got to be High Point Café. It starts with the friendly staff that knows your name. It’s faithfully open during storms and on holidays. They roast their own beans and I love their espresso, their medici (mocha with orange peel) and their super special summer tea that has lemon, mint and a light floral taste. The Queen Bee has been my favorite pastry for years and the crepes always hit the spot.”

— Sarah J from Mt. Airy

Flourtown’s exotic newcomer

Haraz Coffee House, at 1459 Bethlehem Pike, opened this spring, bringing the flavors of the Middle East to Montgomery County. Haraz uses organic, single-source beans from Yemen in crafting its distinctive brews. Unlike many shops, Haraz is open until 8 p.m., so a coffee happy hour is not out of the question!

“Haraz Coffee House is beautiful inside with a lot of different coffees and teas to try.”

— Faith from Mt. Airy

“Haraz Coffee is the best overall experience. The iced pistachio latte is amazing!”

— Gail from Horsham

Chestnut Hill

Char and Stave, 8441 Germantown Avenue.

"Char and Stave is my favorite local coffee shop in Chestnut Hill. I love their drip coffee and cold brew, as well as their thoughtfully crafted unique lattes. It’s a great place to meet a friend, study with a cappuccino, and have an adult beverage. Their espresso martini and old fashioned are my favorite. It’s also a great place to buy someone a gift, whether it be coffee beans, mugs, or one of their spirits. Check it out if you have not yet!"

— Kim from Drexel Hill

Night Kitchen Bakery, 7723 Germantown Avenue.

"Nothing beats the iced coffee at Night Kitchen Bakery! They fill a cup to the brim with delicious coffee ice cubes. You then pour your hot coffee over those and add a variety of coffee condiments as you like. Stays nice and cold and the flavor does not get diluted with regular ice cubes. Try it!"

— Wendy from Chestnut Hill

Poppy's Coffee, inside the Market at the Fareway, 8221 Germantown Avenue.

"Poppy's in the market because there's zero attitude, laptops are kept to a minimum, and refills are a $1. Love Ron and Laura."

Double shout out for Mt. Airy and Germantown

Adelie (see above) and Uncle Bobbie's Coffee and Books - 5445 Germantown Avenue.

"Adelie in Mt.Airy and Uncle Bobbie's in Germantown are tied for my favorite spaces. Both are incredible community hubs where you always run into a neighbor or friendly face. The staff at both locations are really knowledgeable about beverages, super friendly and make the spaces special. I love how cozy Adelie can feel and love their dairy free options as well as the tin fishes. Uncle Bobbies has an incredible curation of books for readers of all ages.
