The Fifth Annual Philadelphia Honey Festival will be held on Sept. 5, 6 and 7 at three of the city's National Historic Landmarks, including Wyck Historic House, Garden and Farm in Germantown.

The events at Wyck, 6026 Germantown Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, will feature a mead home-brewers sharing event, mead and beer sampling, author talks with Jon McGoran and Alison Gillespie, live G-Town Radio broadcasting and a Junior Beekeepers panel.

The Friday, Sept. 5, events will be held at the Wagner Free Institute of Science, 1700 W. Montgomery Ave., in North Philadelphia, and the Sunday, Sept. 7, events will take place at Bartram's Gardens, 54th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard.

The Philadelphia Honey Festival was created to raise awareness about the importance of bees to our environment and the impact of local honey on our economy, and to promote urban beekeeping and gardening.

The 2014 festival is sponsored by Whole Foods, Grid Magazine and The Colony Meadery, with donations from Philly Homebrew Outlet, Earth-Bread+Brewery, Tired Hands Brewery, The Philadelphia Bee Co., and Malt House Ltd.
