The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Jan. 9 - Jan. 16.

Jan. 10 Motor Vehicle Theft. A man parked his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 7600 block of Stenton Avenue in Chestnut Hill Village and when he came back the next day it was gone. 

Jan. 13 Theft. A complainant called police to the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue to report that someone stole her wallet, which contained $300 in cash, and had charged $1,100 worth of goods on her debit and credit cards. 

Jan. 13 Robbery. An employee of Chestnut Hill Hospital reported that an offender confronted her in the hospital’s parking garage and demanded to know why she hadn’t been returning his calls, at which point she pulled out her cell phone and began recording the exchange. The offender snatched her phone and left. 

Jan. 14. Theft. Someone entered the wine and spirits store on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and ran off with $200 worth of products. 

Jan. 14 Theft. A complainant states that someone smashed the sunroof of her car, which was parked on the 8000 block of Cherokee Street on the Springside Chestnut Hill campus and made off with a Hermes purse and wallet. 

Jan. 14 Motor Vehicle Theft. A complainant’s daughter parked her Black Tucson Hyundai on the 8500 block of Anderson Street at 3 p.m. and when she returned to her car it was gone.  

Jan 15. Theft. A man entered the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue at about 6:50 p.m. and took about $60 worth of hygiene products. 

Jan. 15 Theft. A woman entered the CVS on Germantown Avenue at about 8 p.m. and took various cosmetics without paying for them. 

Jan. 15 Burglary. Police arrested someone who tried to break into a home on the 8000 block of Winston Road while screaming “give me all this money.”

Mt. Airy 

Jan. 6 Theft. An offender broke into a house on the unit block of West Mt. Airy Avenue and made off with a TV, an Alexa speaker, a camera, dance items and $1,000 cash. They also broke into a piggy bank and stole an unknown amount of money. 

Jan. 8 Theft. Someone entered the Acme in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue and left with $121.50 worth of cleaning  products that they did not pay for. 

Jan. 8 Theft from Motor Vehicle. Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked on the corner of West Mt. Airy Avenue and Bryan Street. 

Jan. 9 Aggravated Assault. Complainant said he got into a verbal fight with a man outside the Emlen Arms Apartments in the 6700 block of Emlen Street when the man punched him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. 

Jan. 11 Theft. A woman tried to steal some soap from the ACME on Germantown Avenue, and when a security guard stopped her she threatened to cut him. She did not have a knife. 

Jan. 11 Motor Vehicle Theft. Police got a report of a theft in progress at the corner of East Mt. Airy and Chew Avenues and found a complainant who had parked his food cart in that lot where he saw someone in a silver GMC truck driving it away. 

Jan. 12. Burglary and Motor Vehicle Theft. Someone entered a house on the 400 block of West Ellet Street and stole a wallet and keys to the home and a 2016 Audi car. They took a driver’s license, credit cards, $50 in cash as well as the car. 

Jan. 12 Theft. Someone walked into the CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive and stole $200 worth of toothpaste. 

Jan. 13. Theft from Motor Vehicle. Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked on the unit block of West Phil Ellena Street. 

Jan. 15 Theft from Motor  Vehicle. Someone stole all four tires from a vehicle that was parked in the 200 block of West Upsal Street.
