The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 17  to Aug. 27. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill: 

Aug. 17 Theft. A man left his wallet inside the Staples, located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, before someone used his credit cards at various locations, taking $7,000 from his account in the process.

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 17  to Aug. 27. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill: 

Aug. 17 Theft. A man left his wallet inside the Staples, located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, before someone used his credit cards at various locations, taking $7,000 from his account in the process.

Aug. 21 Theft. A woman reported that her doordash driver delivered her pizza and then took a package from her steps on the 8200 block of Seminole Street. Video footage caught the incident.

Aug. 21 Theft. A man reported that someone took a package from his home on the 900 block of East Cliveden Street.

Aug. 22 Motor vehicle theft. The police were called to the 200 block of East Mermaid Lane to retrieve details about a stolen car. They tracked the vehicle to the 6200 block of Elwood Ave and notified the owner.

Aug. 22 Theft. Someone took furniture, two bikes, a bench, a radar detector, and a key fob from a front porch on the 300 block of West Willow Grove Avenue.

Aug. 23 Theft. A complainant on the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue reported that someone took items from their workspace and left in a red Ford.

Aug. 24 Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported her car going missing from the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue.

Aug. 24 Trespass of real property. A man entered the kitchen of a residence on the 400 block of West Chestnut Hill Avenue and was seen by a woman who lived in the home. Frightened, she made the man coffee and food while she called 911. Police arrived and detained the man without further incident.

Aug. 26 Theft from motor vehicle. A man who parked his car at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, located on the 400 block of West Willow Grove Avenue, was notified by other staff members that his vehicle was broken into, cash was taken, and the car was ransacked.

Aug. 26 Trespass of real property. A complainant who was working on a house on the 100 block of West Mermaid Lane reported that a female and two males trespassed onto the property. There was no forced entry, they climbed through an open window and took nothing. The two males fled, while the female was caught and transported to the police department for processing.

Aug. 26 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported that her parked vehicle was broken into on Valley Green Road, and her wallet with miscellaneous bank cards was stolen.

Aug. 27 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone smashed the rear passenger window of a parked vehicle on Valley Green Road and Wolcott Drive and stole a purse containing bank cards and ID.

Mt. Airy

Aug. 19 Burglary. A complainant observed damage to the bottom of his garage door on the 6700 block of Springbank Street and had his mountain bike stolen.

Aug. 20 Burglary. The neighbor of a complainant saw that the complainant’s front door was opened on the 600 block of West Cliveden Street, and then got permission from the homeowner to contact police. The police completed a walkthrough with the complainant on Facetime, and the complainant noticed that $700 of jewelry and $880 cash were taken. Entry was gained through the side basement window.

Aug. 21 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone broke the front passenger side window of a car parked on the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane and stole a purse containing multiple bank cards.

Aug. 22 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone smashed the passenger side rear window of a car parked on the 1000 block of West Allens Lane and stole a wallet with ID and multiple credit cards.

Aug. 22 Shoplifting. A complainant reported that a man left the wine and spirits on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue with a bottle of alcohol he didn’t pay for.

Aug. 23 Burglary. A woman reported that someone entered her apartment on the 200 block of West Upsal Street while she was sleeping and stole a couple of checks.

Aug. 24 Burglary. A man reported that someone forced their way into his garage on the 6600 block of Springbank Street through a side window and stole two bikes.

Aug. 25 Motor vehicle theft. Someone smashed the front passenger side window and damaged the steering column of a parked car on the 7100 block of Crittenden Street.

Aug. 25 Theft from motor vehicle. A man parked his vehicle on the 1100 block of Livezey Lane, with a firearm under the car seat. When he returned two hours later, he saw that his front passenger window was shattered and his gun was missing.

Aug. 26 Shoplifting. A manager at the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue observed five to six juveniles take snacks and leave the store without paying.

Aug. 26 Theft. A man was caught on a ring camera taking a package from a porch on the 300 block of East Gorgas Lane.

Aug. 27 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone broke the driver's side window of a vehicle parked on the 700 block of Vernon Road and stole a pipe cutter and a drill.

Aug. 27 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported that her parked vehicle was broken into on the 600 block of West Allens Lane. Multiple credit cards were stolen.

Aug. 27 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that two of his old friends possibly have his car, and they weren’t given permission to drive it. He doesn’t know for sure if they have the vehicle.

Aug. 27 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported that someone took their car without permission on the 700 block of Saint George’s Road. The police recovered the vehicle on the 1200 block of West Loudon Street.
