The library was filled with the smooth sounds of jazz as the audience got lost within the soundscape. St. Clair was a resident of Chestnut Hill as a child and found the city of Philadelphia to be formative in his music career.

“Music is best enjoyed as a shared experience,” he said. “Music, especially jazz, is experienced entirely differently live. Jazz feeds off the crowd’s energy and will never sound the same each time. I wanted to perform here because I believe it’s all about community building.”

The quintet included trumpeter Marcel Bellinger, trombonist Bill Saurman, guitarist Dan Hanrahan and bassist Sam Harris.

The library is scheduled to hold another Meet the Musicians event in October.
