The Philadelphia Chapter of Ikebana International will host the 19th North & Central American Region Conference from Oct. 13-18 at the DoubleTree by Hilton on South Broad Street.

The conference features an exhibition of more than 100 Japanese flower arrangements, open to the public for $10 at the door. It also includes 22 workshops, four demonstrations by world-renowned teachers, and outings to Longwood Gardens and Shofuso Japanese House and Garden.

Headlining the event is Iemoto Naohiro Kasuya, fourth headmaster of the Ichiyo School, who will demonstrate on Wednesday evening. Other master instructors from the Ikenobo, Ohara, and Sogetsu schools will also present.

More than 300 attendees from across the United States and seven international chapters have registered for the full conference. The public can purchase tickets in advance for demonstrations.

Ikebana International, a Tokyo-based nonprofit, promotes friendship through flowers. The Philadelphia chapter has 120 members across Southeast Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
