The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 11  to Aug. 20. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill: 

Aug. 13 Motor vehicle theft. A man left his key in his car, parked on the 300 block of East Willow Grove Avenue, and it was stolen.

Aug. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported that someone broke into her two cars, which were parked on the 300 block of West Moreland Avenue, and stole change, sunglasses, and …

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 11  to Aug. 20. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill: 

Aug. 13 Motor vehicle theft. A man left his key in his car, parked on the 300 block of East Willow Grove Avenue, and it was stolen.

Aug. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported that someone broke into her two cars, which were parked on the 300 block of West Moreland Avenue, and stole change, sunglasses, and other miscellaneous items.

Aug. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone stole $10 out of the center console as well as a car maintenance kit from a vehicle that was parked on the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue.

Aug. 15 Theft from motor vehicle. Some smashed the window of a car parked on Valley Green Road and stole a purse. 

Aug. 15 Theft from motor vehicle. There is video footage of someone entering a vehicle on Druim Moir Lane, taking cash and ransacking it. 

Aug. 15 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone broke the window of a vehicle parked on Valley Green Road and stole a wallet containing many bank cards and IDs. The theft occurred after the complainant parked the vehicle to go bike riding.

Aug. 15 Burglary. A complainant reported that someone broke into their car on Druim Moir Lane and went through their belongings but took nothing.

Aug. 16 Theft & simple assault. A man stated that someone stole his prescription of Oxycodone on the 8800 block of Germantown Avenue. After the theft, they got into a physical confrontation with the complainant, who sustained a scratch on his face.

Aug. 17 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone took three pairs of Ray-Ban sunglasses from a vehicle parked on the 8000 block of Seminole Avenue.

Aug. 18 Theft. A woman reported that a bank card and cash were taken from her black shoulder bag while she was in a store on the 7900 block of Germantown Avenue.

Aug. 18 Theft from motor vehicle. The driver-side rear window of a vehicle parked on Valley Green Road was smashed and cash, credit cards, IDs, clothes, purses, and a social security card were stolen.

Aug. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone broken into the passenger side window of a car parked on Bethlehem Pike and stole AirPods and a bag containing clothes.

Aug. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. The driver’s side rear window of a car parked on Rex Avenue was smashed and a bag containing a laptop, AirPods, and clothes was stolen.

Aug. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. The passenger side window of a woman’s car parked on Orange Trail and West Bells Mill Road was smashed and cash and paperwork were stolen.

Aug. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported that he saw someone sitting in his car as he and his family were walking back to where it was parked near the corner of Germantown Pike and East Northwestern Avenue. He then saw the person get into another car, and found that his own driver-side window was smashed and a watch, a gold necklace, and a black leather cross bag were missing.

Mt. Airy

Aug. 11 Burglary. An unknown offender kicked in the back door of a home on the 200 block of Montana Street and took 16 cabinets and a table saw.

Aug. 11 Burglary. A man reported that someone broke the rear window of his home on the 400 block of West Upsal Street and proceeded to enter while he and his family were gone. The unknown offender took three laptops, two credit cards, two passports, $200 in cash, $5,000 worth of jewelry, and a piggy bank containing $2.

Aug. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman’s car cover was stolen off her vehicle, which was parked on the 300 block of East Gorgas Lane.

Aug. 14 Theft from motor vehicle. Someone broke the rear passenger side window of a vehicle parked on West Hortter Street and Park Line Drive and took a backpack containing personal care products and a coach wristlet containing paperwork.

Aug. 15 Theft. Someone took Red Bull from the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and left without paying.

Aug. 15 Theft. Someone took an entire display rack of 5-Hour Energy Drinks from the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and left without paying.

Aug. 15 Burglary. A man reported that two men entered his garage on the 600 block of West Upsal Street and took his black Trek bike. They also ransacked the man’s vehicle, but took nothing.

Aug. 15 Burglary. Two males entered a garage on the 6500 block of Wissahickon Avenue through an unlocked side window and stole two bikes. Both bikes were recovered in the woods at Hortter Street and Park Line Drive.

Aug. 15 Burglary. Someone entered a garage through an unlocked door on the 1000 block of West Hortter Street and stole two bikes. Both bikes were recovered in the woods at Hortter Street and Park Line Drive.

Aug. 15 Burglary. Two men entered a garage through an unlocked side window on the 6500 block of Wissahickon Avenue and stole two bikes. One bike was recovered in the woods at Hortter Street and Park Line Drive.

Aug. 15 Burglary. Someone entered a garage on the 6600 block of Wissahickon Avenue and stole two bikes. Both bikes were recovered in the woods at Hortter Street and Park Line Drive.

Aug. 16 Robbery. A mail carrier reported that he was robbed by two men for his mailbox key on the 6900 block of McCallum Street while he was picking up mail at the rear of his USPS Truck. After the complainant fought with the two men, they fled eastbound towards Westview and Lincoln Drive.

Aug. 17 Burglary. A man who was renovating an apartment building on the 6700 block of Musgrave Street reported that someone took tools from him. He and other contractors at the location did not see who took the items.

Aug. 17 Theft from building. A woman stated that an unknown person came into her apartment on the 200 block of West Upsal Street and took $60 from a laundry basket inside of a closet.

Aug. 19 Motor vehicle theft. A man parked his girlfriend’s vehicle on the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue, and after hearing the alarm go off shortly after, he went outside and was met by three juvenile males. They broke the front passenger side window, the steering column, and proceeded to run away on foot.

Aug. 19 Theft. A man reported that someone entered his home on the 500 block of Burnham Road through a rear basement door and took two laptops and a bike while he and his wife were asleep.

Aug. 20 Theft of motor vehicle parts. Someone took the license plate off a vehicle parked on the 7200 block of Boyer Street.
