The following is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from June 25 to June 29. (Some crimes that occurred on the dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) 

Chestnut Hill

June 25. Shoplifting. An offender entered the wine and spirits store in the 8700 block of Germantown Avenue and took a bottle of Crown Royal, Vanilla Value, without paying for it.

June 25.  Shoplifting. An offender left the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue with detergent and a foot massager, and didn’t pay for them.

June 25. Theft. A man who parked his vehicle and went for a walk in the unit block of West Bells Mills Road told police that when he returned the vehicle’s window was smashed and a backpack, debit cards, clothing and $200 were missing.

June 26. Shoplifting. An offender left the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue with hair care products and didn’t pay for them.

June 27. Theft of motor vehicle parts. Complainant told police that tags on her car parked at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy in the 8800 block of Germantown Avenue were taken.

June 28. Shoplifting. An offender entered the Serendipity clothing store in the 8500 block of Germantown Avenue with T-shirts and socks, but did not pay for them.

June 28. Shoplifting. An offender entered a store in the Market Square Shopping Center in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street and took beer without paying.

June 29. Theft. A woman who parked her car in the 200 block of Northwestern Avenue returned to find her window smashed and items including a handbag, driver’s license and several credit cards were missing. The offender used her Discover card at Staples.

June 29. Theft. A woman parked her car in the 100 block of Northwestern Avenue and returned an hour later after she received alerts from multiple credit card companies. She found her car window smashed and items including a handbag, sunglasses, credit cards, and driver’s license were missing.

 

Mt. Airy

June 19. Theft. A man in the 200 block of West. Mt. Pleasant Avenue told police that an offender stole a package from his porch.

June 21. Motor vehicle theft. A man parked his black Lexus in the 6300 block of Greene Street and when he returned the car was missing.

June 22. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant parked her silver Hyundai in the parking lot of her daughter’s apartment complex in the 6400 block of Greene Street while the complainant was in the hospital. The car is now missing.

June 25. Motor vehicle theft. A woman in the 6900 block of Wayne Avenue told police an unknown man entered her home, possibly using a key under a doormat, took items including a backpack, purse, keys and $100 and fled the scene in the woman’s gray Nissan Rogue.

June 25. Burglary. A man who lives in the 7000 block of Wissahickon Avenue reported to police that his home alarm was tripped while he was on vacation. Police responded, found damage to the entryway of the house but nothing taken, and the home was then secured.

June 25. Motor vehicle theft. Complainant stated his vehicle was parked outside in the 7300 block of Boyer Street. A vehicle was stolen.

June 25. Shoplifting. A security officer at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue saw two juveniles take chips and pretzels in their backpacks and leave without paying for them.

June 25. Theft. A complainant in the 400 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue told police an offender smashed the window of her Ford Transit and took six leaf blowers, batteries, a saw and a vacuum.

June 25. Theft from a motor vehicle. A complainant near West Hortter Street and Park Line Drive parked his Altima, went for a walk and when she returned, a window was smashed and keys, a wallet and bank cards were missing.

June 25. Vandalism and theft from motor vehicle. A complainant in the 1500 block of East Cliveden Street reported that his car alarm went off and when he returned to his vehicle, the window was broken and several cleaning items were missing.

June 26. Motor vehicle theft. A woman who parked her white Jaguar in the 600 block of East Mt. Pleasant Avenue reported that when she returned to the vehicle, the car was missing.

June 26. Shoplifting. Wawa employee told police that six young people placed candy, water and Slim Jims in bags and left without paying.

June 26. Shoplifting. Complainant at the Acme market in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue reported that two teens took chips and wine and left the store without paying.

June 26. Aggravated Assault. A complainant in the 100 block of East Hortter Street, told police that she got into a dispute with another woman at night. The next day, when the complainant came out of her house, the woman she argued with was waiting for her, pulled a knife out of her bra and said, “Bitch, Imma get you.” The offender chased the complainant down the street until the complainant was let into a neighbor’s house. The neighbor called police and the offender was taken into custody.

June 27. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant renting an Airbnb in the unit block of East Gorgas Lane parked his Kia Soul near the location and when he returned the next day, the vehicle was missing.

June 27. A security officer at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue reported that six males and one female took snacks and beverages without paying for them.

June 27. Theft. A resident of an apartment complex in the unit block of East Cliveden Street told police he received a confirmation that a package containing an Apple watch had been delivered, but could not find it, and was told that another resident had moved it to the hallway, but he still couldn’t find it.

June 27. Motor vehicle theft. Complainant told police that she parked her Kia Soul in the 6800 block of Chew Avenue and when she returned, the car was missing.

June 27. Vandalism. A woman told police she parked her Nissan Maxima in the 100 block of West Allens Lane and when she returned her window was smashed and an iPhone, car seat and pampers were among the items missing.

June 28. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant’s Hyundai Sonata was taken and police located the car in the 200 block of East Gorgas Lane with a dismantled steering column and smashed window.

June 29. Shoplifting. An offender took about 20 folding chairs valued at $400 from the CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive and walked out without paying for them.
