The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from May 20 to June 2. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill

Jan 1. Theft. A woman who lives in the 100 block of West Mermaid Lane with her husband and adult son said that between Jan 1 and May 30, jewelry valued at $3,300 was taken from her desk in the second floor bedroom. A cleaning service and dog walker had access to the property.

The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from May 20 to June 2. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill

Jan 1. Theft. A woman who lives in the 100 block of West Mermaid Lane with her husband and adult son said that between Jan 1 and May 30, jewelry valued at $3,300 was taken from her desk in the second floor bedroom. A cleaning service and dog walker had access to the property.

May 11. A woman in an apartment complex in the 7600 block of Stenton Avenue told police that her packages containing beauty products were stolen and building management has the theft on video. The woman asked the offender to return the products, but the offender told the complainant that she didn’t have any money. The offender eventually returned the products – used and half-empty.

May 20. Theft. A woman at the Fairview Nursing Home in the 100 block of Bethlehem Pike reported that someone took a ring off her right hand finger while she was asleep.

May 21. Theft. A woman told police that she was dining at a table in Adelinas Restaurant in the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue when two men and two women reached into her purse and stole various credit cards.

May 21. Shoplifting. A manager at CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue told police that someone took hair and body products and left the store without paying for them.

May 23. Theft from motor vehicle.  A man reported that the window of his car parked in the 8000 block of Winston Rd. was smashed and $10 taken from inside.

May 24. Motor vehicle theft. A woman parked her car in the 8100 block of Germantown Avenue and when she returned the Nissan Versa was missing.

May 24. Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant told police that they parked their car in the 8000 block of Winston Road and when they returned a window was smashed and a Black Eagle Arms Aris, three magazines with 90 rounds, a ballistic vest, an 18 round 9 mm clip, an MPO card and a wallet were missing.

May 25. Theft. A man told police that a package delivered to a residence in the 200 block of Mermaid Lane was stolen.

May 30. A woman reported that she parked her car at Chestnut Hill Village in the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue and when she returned her temporary license plate was missing.

May 31. Complainant at the laundromat in the 8200 block of Stenton Avenue reported that she was washing her clothes when someone stole her iPhone.

May 31. A man at the Wine and Spirits store in the 8700 block of Germantown Avenue was suspected of hiding a bottle of Jefferson Ocean bourbon worth $100 in his pants, was stopped by employees but said he didn’t have anything and then walked out. Security camera video revealed he lied.

June 1. A man who had picked up five men and was driving his silver Honda Civic at the intersection of Germantown Avenue and Cresheim Valley Drive told police a black Ford Explorer with tinted windows pulled up next to him, rolled down the window and fired five to six shots. Complainant said he followed the offenders’ vehicle to Willow Grove Avenue and Ardleigh Street but hit a jeep, disabling his vehicle.  

June 1. A man in the 700 block of West Wolcott Drive told police that a package containing dog toys was taken from his front porch.

June 1. A woman in the unit block of West Willow Grove Avenue told police a package containing Hollister clothing was taken from her front steps.

Mt. Airy

April 16. Theft. A man in the 6600 block of McCallum Street told police that  a cell phone he ordered was reported as delivered but he didn’t receive it.

May 15. Motor vehicle theft. A man who had parked his car in the 1400 block of Vernon Road reported to police that the vehicle was missing when he returned to the location.

May 18. Identity theft. A woman in the unit block of West Allens Lane reported that an unknown offender opened a credit card in her name without her permission.

May 18. Theft. A man told police that someone stole his scrap metal from a parking lot in the 400 block of East Sharpnack Street.

May 20. Shoplifting. Three teenagers dressed in black and wearing face masks and hoods took food and beverages from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.

May 20. Theft. A group of young people in the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue took snacks and soda without paying for them.

May 20. Shoplifting. A witness reported that they saw a man take items from CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.

May 20. Vandalism. A woman told police that the windshield of her vehicle parked in the 7600 block of Rugby Street was smashed and the steering column torn open.

May 20. Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported that a set of tools was stolen from inside his car parked near the intersection of Greene and West Upsal Streets.

May 21. Theft. A woman in the 6100 block of McCallum Street told police that her boyfriend took the keys to her apartment after the couple argued and the apartment was later trashed.

May 21. Theft. A man parked his car in the 6400 block of Greene Street and when he returned to the car his sunglasses were missing.

May 21. Shoplifting. A manager at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue told police that a group of teens took various food items without paying for them and then ran toward Mt. Airy Avenue.

May 22. Theft. A woman in the unit block of Allens Lane told police that an offender showed up in her apartment building and tried to take her boyfriend’s car. The woman confronted the offender, which led to a physical altercation, the woman dropping the car keys and the offender picking them up and driving away.

May 22. Aggravated Assault. A woman in the unit block of Allens Lane said she went to retrieve her vehicle when an offender confronted her with a black fire arm, yelling to an accompanying offender to “Come get her Bae.” Both offenders began beating up the woman and then left in a dark sedan.

May 22. Shoplifting. Offenders entered the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and took snacks and beverages without paying for them.

May 22. Theft. Offender took food from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for it.

May 22. Motor vehicle theft. A woman in the 600 block of Cliveden Street was notified by Whitemarsh Township Police that her vehicle was recovered before she realized it had been stolen.

May 22. Vandalism. A complainant told police that the window of her vehicle parked in the 400 block of West Johnson Street was smashed and the steering column damaged.

May 22. Vandalism. A man parked his car in the 6100 block of McCallum Street and when he returned the window was broken and the ignition popped out.

May 23. Aggravated Assault. A man in the Emlen Arms Apartments in the 6700 block of Emlen Street told police that an offender entered his bedroom saying he was going to rob him, and while the man tried to calm down the offender, he became upset and stabbed the complainant.

May 24. Theft. A woman told police legal documents and other items were delivered to her home in the 200 block of West Upsal Street and when she went to retrieve them, they were missing.

May 24. A security guard at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue told police he saw a man take several items without paying for them.

 May 24. Motor vehicle theft. A woman in the 100 block of East Durham Street told police she parked her car and when she returned it was missing.

May 24. Motor vehicle theft. Police discovered a stolen vehicle in the unit block of East Sharpnack Street before it had been reported as stolen.

May 24. Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported that her car was stolen after she parked it in the 7000 block of Greene Street.

May 25. Motor vehicle theft. An owner who parked his truck in the rear driveway near his garage in the 6600 block of Wayne Avenue reported that he heard a bang, and when he went outside, the truck was missing and the cast iron railings in his front steps damaged. The spare set of keys to the truck that had been left inside the open garage were also missing.

May 25. Vandalism. A woman who parked her car in the 500 block of Glen Echo Road told police that when she returned to the car a window was smashed and the car’s ignition popped.

May 25. Burglary. An offender used a credit card to gain entry into an office building in the 200 block of West Upsal Street and stole Amazon packages that had been delivered.

May 25. Vandalism and theft from motor vehicle.  A man in the 5900 block of Devon Street reported that a firearm was missing from the glove compartment of his Ford Escape.

May 25. Theft from building.  Complainant reported that a sewer jet machine was missing from an apartment building in the 300 block of West Johnson Street.

May 25. Theft. A woman who was renting a room in a home in the 300 block of West Hortter Street reported that her Victoria Secret bag containing  her clothes and medication was missing.

May 26. Shoplifting. A security guard at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue observed a group of about 10 teens take candy and chips without paying for them.

May 26.  Shoplifting. An employee at CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive told police she saw a man take Dove soap and other items from a shopping cart and leave the store without paying for them.

May 26. Shoplifting. A manager at the Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street told police she saw a man take paper towels, toothpaste and mouthwash without paying for them.

May 27. Theft. A man purchased a ceiling fan in a box and briefly left it on the porch which was enough time for an offender to steal it.

May 27. Theft of parts of motor vehicle. A man told police that he hit a deer and left his vehicle near Lincoln Drive and Hortter Street and when he returned his license plate had been stolen.

May 27. Arson. A woman who had parked her Chevrolet Trax in the 6600 block of Germantown Avenue while she was on vacation returned to find her car had been set on fire, and had burned until Engine 9 Fire Company extinguished the flames. A man who was recorded nearby near the time of the fire may be the offender.

May 28. A woman who parked her Nissan Sentra in the 100 block of Nippon Street returned to find the car missing.

May 28. Shoplifting. Youth took soda and candy from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and exited without paying.

May 28. Shoplifting. An offender took cleaning supplies from Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street and left without paying for them.

May 28. Shoplifting. An offender took detergent, shampoo and food from Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street and left without paying for them.

May 29. Burglary. A woman came home to a residence in the 300 block of West Hortter Street to find her front door open and a stove and TV missing.

May 29. Shoplifting. An offender took soap, shampoo and juice from Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street and left without paying for them.

May 29. Shoplifting. Offenders took food and drinks from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, exited and fled in a silver SUV.

May 29. Theft. A resident in the Pelham Park Apartments in the 200 block of West Upsal Street had Ricola cough drops and a bottle of Benefiber stolen from a secure package room in the complex.

May 30. Shoplifting. Offenders took bags and chips from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.

May 31. Shoplifting. An offender took detergent, toilet paper and baby products from CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive without paying for them.

May 31. Shoplifting. Offenders took food and beverage items from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.

May 31. Shoplifting. An offender who took food and beverage items from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue was stopped at the store by police, refused to pay for the items and was taken into custody.

May 31. Shoplifting. An offender took candy from Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying.

June 1. Shoplifting. Manager at a store in the 6500 block of Greene Street reported that an offender took deodorant and toothpaste without paying.

June 1. Motor vehicle theft. Complainant in the unit block of West Allens Lane looked through her door bell camera and saw three males take her scooter, put it in the trunk of a black sedan and take off.

June 1. Theft of motor vehicle parts. A man in the 6400 block of Ardleigh Street said that the wiper blades were stolen off his Lexus RX.

June 1. Motor vehicle theft. A woman in the 400 block of East Hortter Street reported that her vehicle had been broken into with nothing taken.

June2. Motor vehicle theft. A woman told police she parked her son’s business vehicle in the 100 block of East Duval Street and when she returned a rock had been thrown through a window, the media console cracked and the plastic surrounding the ignition had been pulled down.

June 2. Theft. A manager of Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street observed two men, who she said have stolen before, take hot dogs, bread and ice cream and leave without paying. Police arrested them.

June 2. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant who had parked their car in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue returned to find a window broken and steering column damaged.

June 2. Motor vehicle theft. A woman in the unit block of West Phil Ellena Street reported that she heard her car alarm sounding at about 4:30 a.m. and when she looked outside she saw an offender fleeing from her vehicle. The steering column had been damaged.

June 2. A man in the 7100 block of Bryan Street heard his vehicle alarm go off and when he went outside he saw that a window had been smashed and an offender had attempted to steal the car.

June 2. A man parked his vehicle in the rear of a residence in the 400 block of Wellesley Road and when he returned, his vehicle was missing.
