The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from April 4 to 10. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period may be included.)

Crime Report: April 4 - 10, 2022

Chestnut Hill

April 3 Theft. Manager of Weavers Way Co-op, located on 8400 block of Germantown Avenue, told police multiple offenders left the store with merchandise they didn’t pay for.

April 5 Aggravated assault. A complainant got into a dispute with her ex-husband who tried to leave the property in his vehicle. The complainant stood in front of his car to block him. The ex-husband inched forward in his vehicle striking the ex-wife, who had to be treated at Chestnut Hill Hospital.

April 6 Theft. A manager of the wine and spirits store on the 8700 block of Germantown Avenue told police an offender left the store with merchandise they didn’t pay for. There is a video of the incident. 

April 7 Theft. An offender left Acme, located on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street, with merchandise they didn’t pay for. The offender then fled eastbound on East Mermaid Lane. 

April 8 Theft. An offender left the CVS on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue with merchandise they didn’t pay for. 

April 8 Theft. An offender left Weavers Way Co-op, located on 8400 block of Germantown Avenue, with merchandise they didn’t pay for.

April 9 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant who left her car unlocked near the Wissahickon Trail entrance on Valley Green Road had items stolen, including a purse containing credit cards. 

April 9 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant who parked his car near the Wissahickon Trail entrance on Valley Green Road had his window smashed and items stolen, including a backpack containing his wallet, credit cards and ID. 

Mt. Airy

March 24 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant has a video of his vehicle being stolen from the 300 block of Crest Park Road.

March 30 Theft of auto parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen off a car parked on the 400 block of East Hortter Street.

April 4 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported his car going missing from the 200 block of East Sharpnack Street.

April 4 Robbery. An offender entered a grocery store on the unit block of West Hortter Street claiming he had a gun and ordered the person behind the register to give him all the money in the cash register.

April 5 Aggravated assault. Police responded to a domestic dispute over finances in the 400 block of Pleasant Street. The offender fired a gun but the complainant was not struck. No injuries were reported.

April 5 Theft of auto parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen off a car parked on the 6000 block of Ross Street.

April 5 Theft of auto parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen off a car parked on the 200 block of Rosemary Lane.

April 5 Theft of auto parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen off a car parked on the 7500 block of Germantown Avenue.

April 5 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported his car going missing from the 400 block of East Walnut Lane.

April 6 Aggravated assault. A complainant got into an argument with an offender over a previous conversation. The offender stuck his hand into his right pocket and revealed a gun. A struggle between both parties ensued with the complainant managing to subdue the offender and disarm him and hold him down until the police arrived.

April 7 Aggravated assault. A complainant called the police department and stated that she was choked by her live-in boyfriend. However, a witness reported that the complainant was the actual aggressor and the boyfriend was defending himself.

April 8 Aggravated assault. Police responded to reports of gunshots to find a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen on the unit block of Montana Street. Police also found a green Subaru with three bullet holes. 

April 9 Theft from motor vehicle. An offender who left her car parked and unlocked on the 200 block of West Johnson Street had the license plate stolen from the rear windshield of her car. 

April 10 Aggravated assault. An offender arrived at a house on the 100 block of W. Sharpnack Street to drop off medicine for her shared child. The offender subsequently pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill her. The complainant eventually made it back to her home safely where she called 911.
