Crime Report: Jan. 31, 2021 - Feb. 15, 2022

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from Jan. 31 to Feb. 13. (This report includes last week’s incidents, as that report was not available by press time.) Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact. 

Chestnut Hill

Jan. 31 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant left the keys to a black Ford Edge parked on the 200 block of E. Highland Avenue in the glove compartment and the car was subsequently taken. 

Feb. 3 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the license plate was stolen off his car while parked in the Wyndmoor SEPTA station parking lot. 

Feb. 6 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant had the catalytic converter stolen off her car, which was parked at the corner of Ardleigh Street and East Highland Avenue. 

Feb. 6 Theft from auto. A complainant had her car window smashed in with a handbag stolen while it was parked on the unit block of Valley Green Road. 

Feb. 7 Theft. The manager of a store on the 7700 block of Germantown avenue stated that he repeatedly sees a woman stealing items from the store.

Feb. 11 Theft. A complainant had a bike stolen while it was chained from the 8000 block of Roanoke Street.

Feb. 11 Theft from auto. A complainant had a car window smashed in with items stolen while it was parked on the unit block of Valley Green Road. 

Feb 12 Auto theft. A complainant had his car, which was parked on the 100 block of E Mermaid Lane, stolen overnight. 

Feb. 12 Aggravated assault. A complainant had the guns owned by a male she lived with at a residence on the 160 block of West Evergreen Avenue confiscated by the police and when he came home he became irate, threatening to hit her and choke her. He pointed a gun at her and said he’d kill her. The male fled before police arrived but was later apprehended by police.

Feb. 13 Sexual assault. A male offender snuck into the dorm room of a female complainant at 4 a.m., got in bed with her while she was sleeping and attempted to remove her underwear. Both are students at Chestnut Hill College. The incident happened on the 9600 block of Germantown Avenue.

Mt. Airy

Jan. 31 Aggravated assault. A woman was punched and kicked by an offender before he pulled out a gun and threatened to kill her before leaving. The incident occurred on the 700 block of Vernon Road.

Feb. 1 Robbery. A woman was robbed at gunpoint on the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue as she was locking the door to her business.

Feb 1 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A catalytic converter was stolen from a car parked on the 800 block of Vernon Road.

Feb. 2 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant had a vehicle stolen from the 6500 block of Germantown Avenue while she turned it on and left the engine to idle so it could heat up as she went back inside. 

Feb. 2 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant had the license plate stolen off her car, parked on the 6400 block of Greene Street.

Feb. 3 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant had his car stolen overnight from the 600 block of Vernon Road.

Feb. 3 Theft from auto. A complainant stated that her firearm was stolen from the glovebox of her car, parked on the 6300 block of Germantown Avenue. 

Feb. 7 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A worker at Sacred Heart Manor, located on the 6400 block of Germantown Avenue, had the catalytic converter stolen from her car while it was parked in Sacred Heart’s parking lot. 

Feb. 9 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant stated that the catalytic converter was stolen from his car overnight as it was parked outside his residence on the 200 block of W. Johnson Street.

Feb. 9 Attempted Robbery. A male was approached by another male as he was walking to his car parked at the corner of W. Johnson Street and Greene Street, who started going through his pockets. The offender was fought off and fled. The complainant did not see a weapon. 

Feb. 9 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant parked at 1000 Kitchens Lane had the front window of her car smashed in with items, including credit cards and a social security card, taken. 

Feb. 10 Theft. A shift supervisor at the CVS on the corner of Lincoln Drive and West Mt. Pleasant Avenue reported an offender walking out of the store with a shopping cart full of miscellaneous items.

Feb. 10 Burglary. An offender was wandering around a complainant’s property with a flashlight located on the 6900 block of Chew Avenue. The offender was arrested.

Feb. 10 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen off her car parked on the 500 block of Roumfort Road.

Feb. 11 Robbery. A complainant’s co-worker punched him in the face and stole his cellphone, which was returned when the complainant gave the co-worker $250. The dispute was related to rent and work money. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of E. Cliveden Street.

Feb. 12 Burglary. A complainant came home to find his bedroom in disarray leading him to believe somebody entered his house, located on the 6800 block of Emlen Street, without permission. It’s unknown if anything was taken. 

Feb. 12 Burglary. A complainant said that an acquaintance of his broke down his apartment door and demanded money. When the complainant said he didn’t have money the acquaintance took the complainant’s car keys instead and fled with his car. The incident occurred on the 6600 block of McCallum Street.
