The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between November 22 and 29, 2021. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

April 25 Theft. A repairman at an apartment near Newton St. and Prospect Ave. and removed a piece of jewelry valued at $4,000. The theft was not discovered unto Nov. 26.

Nov 22 Theft from Auto. Returning to her car om W. Bells Mill Rd. after a run in the park, a woman realized she had dropped her keys. Items removed from the car include a green backpack, a laptop, a tan wallet, red purse, a parka, ID, and $25 cash. Estimated total value $1,250.

Nov 22 Burglary. Though there was no sign of forced entry, the back door was ajar at a home on Rex Ave. A woman awoke to find a “dark figure” standing by the door. He left, and items were missing, including cash and an ID card.

Nov 23 Theft. A man shoplifted athletic gear from a store in the 8600 block of Germantown Ave. Estimated value $150.

Nov 23 Theft from Auto. Returning from vacation, woman discovered her car, parked on the 100 block of E. Mermaid Lane, had a broken window. The vehicle registration card was missing. There was an estimated $1,000 in damage to the vehicle.

Nov 26 Auto Theft. A car parked in the 8700 block of Germantown Ave. was stolen. Items inside included a wallet and $3,000 worth of power tools.

Nov 26 Theft. A shoplifter in a pharmacy ibn the 7700 block of Germantown Ave. took multiple skin products.

Nov 26 Burglary. An unknown person entered a property in the 100 block of W. Northwestern Ave. through an unsecured side door and attempted to open a security box. He failed. Nothing was taken.

Nov 27 Theft from Auto. A man returned to his car parked in the 7800 block of Lincoln Dr. to discover the rear driver-side window broken. Sunglasses left on the console were missing.

Nov 27 Theft from Auto. The rear passenger window was broken on a car parked in the 100 block of W. Mermaid Lane. Sunglasses left on the console were missing.

A second man reported his read driver-side window was also broken at the same location and approximate time, but nothing was taken.

Mt. Airy

Nov 17 Theft. A package delivered to a house in the 500 block of E. Allens Lane was removed. Items included a new desktop pc.

Nov 22 Auto Theft. A car was stolen from the 400 block of E. Mt. Airy Ave. Suspects were described as three males in black clothing.

Nov 23 Theft from Auto. While making a food delivery in the 7300 block of Thouron Ave., the delivery was stolen. Later recovered, items removed included a tablet and medical equipment. Estimated value $1,400.

Nov 23 Auto Theft. A woman left her vehicle running while using an ATM in the 6600 block of Chew Ave.

Nov 23 Theft from Auto. While parked in the 7100 block if Germantown Ave., a man left his gun and ammunition the dashboard. Returning home, he discovered it missing.

Nov 24 Theft from Auto. The tags were removed from a car parked in the 100 block of Meehan Ave.

Nov 26 Burglary. Arriving to open his store on the 7100 block of Germantown Ave., the business owner discovered the front glass door was broken. Two cash registers were missing.

Nov 26 Murder, non-negligent Manslaughter. Police found a non-responsive victim in the 7100 block of Ardleigh St. There were five gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Nov 27 Theft from Auto. The passenger-side window was broken on a car parked on Valley Green Rd. Items removed included gifts, a phone, a purse and cash.

Nov 27 Theft from Auto. Returning from a hike, owner discovered the front-passenger window broken, Items removed include a purse, cards, and $150 cash.

Nov 27 Theft from Auto. The rear passenger-side window was broken on a car parked in the 500 block of W. Ellet St. A phone charger was removed.
