The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from September 20 to September 27, 2021. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

Sept 20 Theft from Auto. The catalytic converter was removed from an auto parked in the 8100 block of Devon St. The tag was also taken.

Sept 23 Theft. Two bicycles were stolen from the porch of a residence in the 7800 block of Devon St. Estimated value $1,200.

Sept 23 Theft from Auto, Vandalism/Destruction of Property. Returning from a walk, a woman found the front passenger broken on her car, parked at E. Northwestern and Stenton Aves. Items taken include a Chromebook, a laptop, and a wallet containing cards, ID, and $50 in cash.

Sept 23. A man returned to his car parked at W. Hampton Rd. to discover his car had been searched, but nothing had been taken.  

Sept 24 Theft from Auto. The catalytic converter was removed from a hybrid vehicle  parked at a train station at 102 Bethlehem Pike.

Mt. Airy

Sept 7 Auto Theft. A car parked on the 100 block of E. Sharpnack St. was towed, but the owner never requested a tow and the service vehicle has not been identified.

Sept 9 Burglary. Two bicycles were stolen from a garage on the 400 block of Glen Echo Rd. The garage had been accidentally left open by an exterminator working on the property. Estimated total value $4,300.

Sept. 19 Theft. A visitor allegedly stole an Apple Watch from an apartment in the 400 block of Glen Echo Rd. Estimated value $400.

Sept 20 Theft from Auto. A woman returned from the park to find her vehicle, parked in the 600 block of W. Allens Lane, to find the front passenger window broken and her pocketbook missing, containing cards, keys, and other personal items.

Sept 20 Vandalism/Destruction of Property. A car parked at the Sedgwick Train Station, 7100 Devon St., was broken into. Items including clothes, sneakers, and a laptop were stolen. Estimated total value $2,000.

Sept 21 Burglary. A residence in the 500 block of Brinton St. was forcibly entered. A door frame was broken and copper pipes and wire were removed. Estimated value $200-$400.

Sept 22 Robbery. A woman was walking on Sprague St at E. Hortter St. when an assailant walked up behind and grabbed her purse, containing keys, cards, and a gun.

Sept 22 Theft from Auto. A catalytic converter was stolen from a hybrid vehicle parked in the 100 block of E. Mt. Pleasant Ave.

Sept 20 Vandalism/Destruction of Property. Suspects broken into a laundromat and took money from a cash register in the 6500 block of Germantown Ave.

Sept 23 Attempted Theft from Auto. A man discovered someone had attempted to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle, parked in the 300 block of W. Willow Grove Ave., but had stopped after making two cuts.

Sept 24 Theft from Auto. A woman parked her car near a stable in the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane and returned to discover the front passenger window broken and a purse missing, containing cards, ID, and insulin, among other items.

Sept 24 Aggravated Assault. A woman in the 300 block of Vernon Rd reported her husband assaulted her during an argument.

Sept 25 Theft from Auto. The front passenger window was broken on a car parked in the 8000 block of Cherokee St. A purse and wallet were stolen. Estimated total value $450.

Sept 25 Burglary. An assailant entered by breaking a ground-level window of a residence in the 200 block of Slocum St., then, when seen by the residents, fled with a cell phone. Value $800.
